Do learned behaviors also play an important role in why many ADD/ADHD people get into trouble?

Section:

Even though ADD/ADHD is mainly due to inherited brain chemistry, do learned behaviors also play an important role in why many ADD/ADHD people get into trouble?

Learned behaviors do play an important role in how all people act, including those with ADD/ADHD. It is important to realize that treating ADD/ADHD brain chemistry has no direct effect on learned behaviors, but treatment does make it more possible for ADD/ADHD people to reassess and modify inappropriate learned behaviors. For example, the ADD/ADHD person with bulimia is more able to not excessively eat and not repeatedly vomit. The ADD/ADHD compulsive gambler is less driven to gamble. The ADD/ADHD alcoholic is better able to drink less.
